A combination of good climate and modern

forth a year-round harvest of
an incredible array of exotic fruits. Most Thai fruits are not only seasonal but also
regional. In northern Thailand, for example, where the climate is more temperate than
Bangkok and the south, fruits familiar to western eyes are cultivated. Among them are
apples and strawberries, though far more common and loved by all are lychees, longans,
pineapples and mangoes.
As a final note, visitors are recommended to order at least once a plate of fresh fruits
in season to round off a great Thai dining experience. This will provide you some of the
most exotic fruit tastes and flavours you're ever likely to come across.
Pineapples
Thailand is one of the worlds leading
exporters of pineapples, both fresh and canned and thus, one of the countrys major
sources of foreign exchange. "Smooth Cayenne" grown mainly in Petchburi and
Prachuab Khiri Khan provinces in the West, and in Chonburi and Rayong provinces in the
East, is the main variety exported
In fact, it is said those grown in other areas are not as delicious as those grown in
Chonburi and Rayong. Don't fail to sample the golden, luscious fruits which the' eastern
region is so proud of, it's one of the sweetest surprises literally-in Thailand.
Mango
Thailand is home to many varieties of
mango. The Nam Dok Mai and Ok Rong varieties, are an all -time favourite A heavenly treat
when eaten ripe with sticky rice and coconut cream.
Papaya
Main ingredient of Sohm-Tumm, spicy
green papaya salad. Ripened fruit should be eaten with fresh lime squeezed on top.
Durian
Known as the "King of Fruits", durian is admire
d for
its unique taste. The ripe flesh of the durian is truly delicious, but can perhaps best be
enjoyed when mixed with glutinous rice and coconut milk.
Durian is grown in abundance in the East and South, and although there are many different
varieties, Morn Thong, Kan Yao, and Chanee are the most famous.

Thais prefer to eat this while still hard,
dipped in sugar and dried peper
Watermelon
Same great flavor as at home. Red or yellow.
Rambutan
Juicy with fruit inside a spiky red skin.
Easy to pinch open. Its a sweet dessert dish in many of Thailands restaurants.
Mangosteen
Dark purple peel with sweet, white fruit inside.
Fragrant & aromatic
Custard Apple
Sweet fruit with seeds and pale green bumpy
outer skin.
Rose Apple
Bell-shaped fruits similar to the apple, thought not
as tart. You ll see it in green or pink
Longan
Luscious white fruit with a dark brown skin or
shell. Easily peeled and sold in bunches on unpicked branch shoots.Thai longans are known
as, one of the best in the world, the sweet , pinkish-white flesh is believed by many to
energise the body and banish fatigue. Longan can be enjoyed as dessert either with syrup,
sticky rice,
Lychee
Sweet, juicy fruit inside a hard, red peel.
An Asian favorite.
Strawberry
This well-known fruit is now found almost
everywhere. December and January are the best months in Chiangmai
Jackfruit
A sweet yellow fruit covered, with a thick
skin. Enormous in size.
Pomelo
Pomelo, which is a larger version of the
grapefruit. Sweet and tangy, Pomelo can be enjoyed as a salad
