The Pony Club is an international youth organization for those interested in ponies and riding. It was founded in England in 1929 and is now represented in 15 countries and has a membership exceeding 100,000. It is the largest association of riders in the world. The Pony Club is open to children and young adults aged 5 to 21. The aim of the club is to provide quality riding tuition as well as a full program to teach horse care and the basics of stable management.

L E S S O N S
The equestrian center has a vast array of horse riding programs to suit a range
of abilities and interests. They offer lessons at all events from beginner to
advanced (Dressage, Jumping and Classical Riding).
Lessons at the Horseshoe Point are kept safe and fun. Horses and riders are
matched according to rider ability. During each lesson, the instructor will
assess individual needs and spend quality instruction time with each student.
Riders will learn how to effectively communicate with the horse through proper
position and movement. They offer either group or private lessons, which are
approximately one hour in length.

Their riding instructors are professional and internationally trained; some of
which are winners of both local and international dressage and jumping
competitions. Your host and Riding Master, Chaikiri Srifuengfung received his
Classical Riding training from Portugal under the Master of Dressage, Nuno
Oliveira, having originally learnt his riding skills in Thailand and the USA.

D R E S S A G E
The object of dressage is the harmonious development of the physique and ability of the horse. As a result it makes the horse calm, supple, loose and flexible, but also confident, attentive and keen; thus achieving perfect understanding with his rider.

Services and facilities at the Horseshoe Point International Riding School are of a high standard and include arenas, stable, veterinarian and farrier.

1. Arenas: The Horseshoe Point boasts having 5 riding arenas (four of which are covered). The Classical/Hotel arena is 60x25 meters, the Traditional/Main House arena is 40x25 meters, the Olympic arena is 125x25 meters, the Outdoor arena is 75x55 meters and our Warm-Up arena is 40x20 meters. They also have a trimmed grass field for polo, jumping or leisure riding.

2. Stable: The Horseshoe Point has 200 individual stalls, each with a fan to pamper the horses. They also have 7 paddocks and 3 lungeing rings for exercising and training horses.

3. Veterinarian: They have two experienced in-house veterinarians who maintain the highest standards of care and vigilance of the horses and those that are stabled here by their owners. They are on call 24 hours per day and have at their disposal a portable X-ray machine, an ultra sound machine, microscope as well as other diagnostic equipment.

4. Farrier: An in-house master farrier is a rare occurrence anywhere in the world. The Horseshoe Point boasts of one, who takes care of all the horses’ hoofs and is capable of doing whatever corrective shoeing is needed on any horse.

H O R S E S
They have more than 100 horses of different breeds including Lusitano, Lipizzaner, Arab, Appaloosa, Australian Stock Horse, Royal Alter Real, Thoroughbred, DutchWarmblood, Trakehner, Falabella as well as the sturdy Thai Pony. Many of these animals have been imported from Europe, the USA and Australia over the last 25 years by the owning family.

1. LUSITANOS: The Lusitano is the Portuguese version of the Spanish Andalucian. It is a very cooperative, intelligent and responsive breed. Its action is also quick and balanced. As a result, it is growing in demand for use as a dressage horse.

2. LIPIZZANER: The Lipizzaner horse is usually associated with the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna. It is agile and athletic and its quiet temperament makes it especially suitable for the School disciplines. The colour is uniformly white, although foals are born black or brown.

3. ROYAL ALTER REAL: In 1784 the Royal House of Braganza founded a stud farm at Vila de Portel in Portugal’s Alentejo province. Later, the stud was moved to Alter, which gave its name to a breed of horses founded on 300 Andalucian mares. Its purpose was to produce horses for the Royal manege for the pursuit of classical riding.

4. ARAB: The Arab horse is arguably the most beautiful of all; it is unmistakable in character and appearance. It is also the purest and oldest of all breeds, having been carefully bred for thousands of years.

5. APPALOOSA: The Appaloosa should have the appearance of a well-bred cow pony, compact with good limbs. The breed’s coat is spotted and inclines towards a blanket pattern. The Appaloosa is used as a stock and pleasure horse, as a prade hose and for jumping and racing. Not only is it athletic and agile, it is also a willing performer.

6. AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE: The Australian Stock Horse is used widely on cattle stations, chiefly because of its endurance. Though not fast, it is a remarkably good all-rounder with great stamina.

7. THOROUGHBRED: The Thoroughbred is the fastest and most valuable of the world’s breeds, and around it has grown a huge racing and breeding industry. It possesses both physical and mental stamina and is very courageous, battling on when other breeds have given up. It can also be highly strung, nervous and sensitive.

8. DUTCH WARMBLOOD: The Dutch Warmblood is already a proven performer in the show-jumping ring and the dressage arena. Any colour is acceptable but bay and brown are probably the most common.

9. TRAKHENER: The Trakehner is a breed of great antiquity. Of all the horses known as warmbloods, it is arguably the nearest to the ideal of the modern competition horse. The Trakehner is a highly courageous horse and it also has great stamina and endurance, as well as exemplary conformation.
